Market Tours

School Market Tours at the Belconnen Fresh Food Markets promise to open your eyes to the exciting and delicious world of fresh and local produce.

On a School Market Tour you'll have a fun filled experience and gain the confidence to try a range of fruits and vegetables you may never have tried before. You'll even walk away with a Market Tour pack filled with yummy recipe cards, health tips, activity books, fresh fruit and other hidden gems!

Designed to suit primary school students of all years, the specifically age targeted tours make learning fun and stimulating through an interactive experience. Students can learn about what we sell at the markets and why it's best to buy seasonal and local, as well as the importance of eating fresh, healthy and nutritious food. The tours enable the students to explore the market place, experience its sights, sounds, smells and tastes and introduce students to a world flavours that many may not have tasted before, such as:

  • exotic meats
  • deli delights
  • seasonal fruits and vegetables
  • fresh seafood

Our commitment to create opportunities for children to learn about healthy eating and nutrition extends beyond our Market Tours. The Market Tours have been designed to compliment the 'Make the Most of a Fresh Food Market Tour' Manual which has been developed in association with ACT Health and Nutrition Australia and can be found in your school library.

With a mission to increase awareness of the benefits of a healthy diet and to encourage children to eat fresh fruits and vegetables daily, the Belconnen Fresh Food Markets School Market Tours are a wonderful foundation to promote a healthy and fun lifestyle for our children.
